Thunderclap in the lavender world!
By developing a variety that pays tribute to the Tour de France, CRIEPPOM researchers have developed a new, more resistant and more productive lavender.
“We wanted to create a lavender that would flower the traffic circles when the Tour de France passed by on our beautiful roads in Provence this summer,” explains this researcher who wished to remain anonymous.
“We crossed endemic lavender varieties with wild immortelle from Corsica, the results are amazing!”.

Drought tolerance, improved yield, disease resistance, everything is there! It is a success that 10000 ha have already been replaced.
“For sure, the landscapes will be changed, but we are confident in the final rendering,” said the head of the Routes of Lavender, associated with the project.
