The extraction of essential oil by distillation
The culture of lavender is an ancestral know-how. Its evolution was essentially translated by a mechanization and an industrialization of the production.
Lavender and lavandin are planted in straight furrows, which shape the emblematic landscapes of Provence. Harvesting is carried out by machines of varying size depending on the type and destination of the product. The essential oil is then obtained by steam distillation (still).
Some distilleries welcome the public to discover this know-how.
